Minnesota's gay couples deserve equal civil rights Should Minnesota be among the states that puts into law anti-equality legislation, or should we be among states that protects gays and lesbians who have same sex partners? Well, many states are passing legislation prohibiting employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and or gender identity.

It started out as a drip. Then continual puddles of water turned into a flood of controversy for the University of Michigan-Dearborne.
The campus, which has a student population that is nearly 10 percent Muslim, was seeing the affect of the Muslims' traditional foot washing before prayer.

The class of 2012 will be the first in more than 50 years that will not have its on-campus health care needs met at Winton Health Services. The Winton building's former location is buried under the rising Institute for Global Citizenship building and health services has moved across campus to the Leonard Center.

Nov. 4 was a day of change across the nation: the day that United States would finally pick its next president, the day Americans could get their voices heard, and - at least across the St. Olaf campus - the day that Stav Hall would go trayless.

Free Press is censoring its readers
The Mankato "Free" Press shut down its on-line forum after comments were made which they deemed too controversial. These topics ranged from politics to local job layoffs.
I understand the Free Press hosting this type of a forum is a small conflict of interest yet a newspaper should hold the right of free speech above all else.

First of all, Beyoncé Knowles is not Sasha Fierce. Jay Z is not "just a boy" and he did "put a ring on it." But, she does make herself Sasha Fierce for this album. She encompasses herself in the strong, single woman role and, although you know it isn't her, she comes off sincere.

On Tuesday night, I was at home in Brooklyn, and I was running late. I had tried for a good hour to put together a business casual outfit that I could move in and heels that would make me look less like a stump but also not be my death sentence. My parent's printer wasn't working, and my sister's wasn't working either.

Once again, I am compelled to address the callous and easy arrogance of privilege that is the only dialect that many journalists can speak in the journalist's tongue. Compelled, but for what?
The same arrogance that speaks through the two-page spread on what whiteness (and Macalester?) likes already views its own writing as incomplete without some partial, self-interested or "tribalist" response-so why should I or anyone otherized by this conflicted drivel even respond? What could be gained from filling this role, stepping into the chalk already drawn out for me? No matter what its content, my response will simply be met with "disdain" by this overwhelmingly white campus.

For years, many more people have tried to attend St. Olaf's renowned Christmas Festival than tickets are available. It's the case every fall, but this year, one group is upset that President David Anderson '74 decided their members could not receive tickets.

Dear Hannah,
How soon is too soon for going all the way? How do you strike the balance between letting someone know you're into them, without being too forward or easy?

With such laws allowing consenting adults the legal freedom to have sex as they choose being only so recently past, it might make us think twice about taking such freedom for granted.

You’ve probably noticed that the vacant location next to Harvey Hall where That Mexican Place used to be is now inhabited by a new eatery. The newest place in town that you should check out is Yo-Dawg, a gourmet hot dog and burger joint. Owner Diane Kristen moved to Menomonie recently from Chicago and realized she was very badly missing one thing: a gourmet Chicago hot dog.
